T54 400m

Finished 5th in my 400m heat today. The time was faster than some of the winners of the other 2 heats but, due to luck of the heat draw, I don’t advance.

It can be confusing when you look at my time of 48.57 and see that it’s the 6th fastest time of the 21 athletes in the 400 Preliminaries and athletes that had slower times than I did advanced to the Finals. Continue reading

London 2012

The big news, of course, is that I made the Canadian London 2012 Paralympic Team. What a huge relief! This year was a small team with only 20 total athletes being nominated; 14 males, 6 females.  This meant that you had to have an “Elite Standard”, not to mention finishing within the top 3 in your event at the Canadian Trials in Calgary.

I’m heading to London for pre-camp on Tues. Aug. 21 to acclimatize to the weather and time zone. I’ll be training at Brunel University before moving into the Athletes Village to get set for the Paralympic games to start.

I will try and update the blog as much as possible but things will be pretty crazy. I will be tweeting for sure though so check out @wheelzontheline and my facebook page for updates.
